The Pinery
Where Pine Forests Meet Gravel Roads
ABOUT THIS REGION
Where Pine Forests Meet Gravel Roads
The Pinery stretches across Wisconsin's Northwoods, where towering pine plantations create natural tunnels over smooth gravel roads. This is Wisconsin's most remote gravel region a landscape shaped by glaciers, defined by water, and blanketed in deep green forests.
With hundreds of miles of county forest roads winding past pristine kettle lakes and through some of the state's most extensive public lands, The Pinery offers solitude, wildlife, and the kind of wilderness riding found nowhere else in the Midwest. These are routes where you're more likely to see a black bear than another cyclist.

Birthplace of Wisconsin’s Logging
